Hi guys,
And a Happy New Year to you all........

I've not been on the forum much lately, but with the arrival of 2008 we have been looking
at holidays in Florida Keys.

Personally .... I would prefer to charter a Sea Ray for 2 weeks, with wife and 12 yr old
duaghter...... but would also consider .... hotel or villa with water sport activities.

Have been looking at Key Largo coz of the snorkeling ... (wife & daughter like snorkeling)
but options are wide open .....

Any sugguestions from you guys with charter/hotel options would be most appreciated

We go down there fairly often. Always stay at the Ramada Ltd. Nice hotel on the water right by a bunch of dive/ snorkel /fishing charter boats, reasonable prices great view of the harbor. walk to Coconuts. There is also dock space available there. Plan B: If you google vacation rental, you'll also find sites that list houses and condos by location. Key Largo has a bunch. And regardless of where you stay, don't miss Fish House Encore for dinner. GREAT RESTAURANT! And absolutely the best Oysters Rockefeller on the planet.

I am able to get down to the Keys about once a year either on business or pleasure. If your looking for a full service, national chain resort, Marriott has a very nice property in Key Largo.

A little further south (10-15 miles) you'll find Holiday Isle resort. They have a small marina that has a number of charter fishing boats (deep sea and backwater) based there.

Another smaller, quiter place is The Islander. It is located at mile marker 82 on the oceanside. We have been going there since the mid-70's. It has a couple of pools and a fishing pier if you like to wet a line.

Next door to The Islander is the Cheeca Lodge. Upscale, very nice place!

Many more locations available. As mentioned previously, do a Google search or contact Florida Keys / Key Largo / Islamorada Chambers of Commerce.

Good luck in your search!

If you want a real treat for yourself and family try Hawks Cay Resort. The hotel is closed for remodeling right now but they have villas and condos available. Many activities, full marina and spa. I'll be there in the marina the whole month of March. I've been using this resort for maybe 8 years and have never been disappointed.

I had to go out of town and missed the MM getaway they had for New Years at Hawk's Cay. I am so itching to go down there for a long weekend as everyone I talk to loves it there!!
