Here's a couple of pics of the road in our marina to our boat. I got out to walk it before driving through. The lake was 2 feet over full pool at 6 am this morning and the marina has had to let all the docks out to float. The last picture is of the road back to my house. When we left there was no water on the road. When we returned an hour later it looked like this.

ouch, We have not had the flooding (yet) up here in the mountain, but the creeks and rivers are full!!!

How was the boat? I wonder if we could make it to the falls now (Grin)

Lake Chatuge has gone up about a foot and half in since yesterday. They say it may go another 1 or so higher. Good thing they started pulling the lake a couple weeks ago.

Ha. We would probably need a white water raft to get to the falls today.

What is the dam/overflow elevation? One good thing is that Lainer can fill back up??

Just went down and checked the dock at our lake house - lake has risen approx 2-1/2' since noon. My best guestimate is the lake is sitting at about 844 right now and still rising.

Ok well right now I'm trapped. All the stream around me have crested the banks and flooded the roads. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

Are you moving the boat or what are you trying to do? That doesn't look good, but I recall last year you guys needed rain because lakes were closing due to low water....right?

We're going to have to keep an eye on the water level and be sure the marina keeps the dock afloat. I don;t think we will have to go this route but, if the water rises too high we may have to float the boats off the docks. They only have so much cable to allow the docks to rise with the rising water.

We were in need of water the last few years and I guess we're getting our wish now all at once. The lakes were not closed but some we're very low making areas too shallow the navigate.

As of 4:00am today, Allatoona Lake level was 849.79 MSL. With no scheduled water releases, could rise another couple of feet. Walkways on just about all docks (private and marina) are under several feet of water. Some roads flooded, but the rain has stopped (for now).

How common is it to have "full pool" in these lakes? I know you've had drought to contend with, but is full pool the norm under normal conditions or does it occur only at certain times of the year?

Lake Allatoona is a CoE lake designed for flood contol and power generation (secondary). In a "normal" rainfall year, the lake is at "full pool" from Memorial Day to Labor Day and then it is lowered to about 12-15' below full pool, awaiting the winter/spring rains. Flood stage is 20' above full pool. Right now, at 10' above full pool, the dam/lake is doing its job to prevent flooding down river by holding back the excessive rainfall amounts.

Windjammer and I may be "wading" to our dock this weekend!

You all still above the water down there?

This link about sums it up for our area. Look how the lake spiked in the last day or so.

We're still above water. Haven't been to the marina today. I imagine from windjammers report that I'll be swimming to the boat this weekend. The water surface was very warm yesterday. Hope it still is by Friday. We will definitely be dodging submerged objects in the lake this weekend and should get some interesting photos of water in places it does not belong.

At 3:00pm this afternoon, COE released the following info:
" Generation/release of water will not commence until September 25-September 26, 2009, due to flood conditions downstream. The new estimated elevation of water over the next several days will reach 856.98 feet. Current elevation is 851.5 feet."

Gonna be a mess this weekend.
