Anyone have experience installing a flip down dvd player (e.g. like the one's installed in SUVs)?

30' Sundancer purchase fell through, going to keep 260, looking to install dvd player in ceiling. Looking for brands, sizes, etc.

The factory option on some 260s is a flip down DVD. They install it s/board side near the cabin locker.

I have a friend who installed a traditional LCD (15") on a swing bracket on the port side cabinet at the foot of the bed (near the stove). You can then add an external DVD or get an LCD with build in DVD. He runs it 110v from the galley outlet.

My personal preference is a large size portable DVD player. This way you can put it anywhere on the boat as needed. The drawback is that it doesn't look as cool. And won't do you any good if what you want is a cable or OTA signal.

Hope this gives you some ideas.

We considered a flip-down but felt that SR wanted far too much money, and it provides limited viewing angles. The SUV versions are too small for us. We mounted a 15" lcd with built-in DVD on the shelf above the galley. It swivels so it's viewable through out the cabin. Works great!

I thought the deal was done contingent of a survey?
So this could be a world record, 2 seasons in the same boat for you.

Stay away from the flip down units, waaay too expensive and not viewable from as many angles. Go with one you can mount on an articulating arm, or move about as needed.
