Hi I have a 2001 290 sundancer with the old 13" tv/dvd tube tv in the v-berth... i want to remove that and install either a 13" or 19" flat screen tv there... my question is once i remove the the 13" there will be a big hole there... trying to figure out what bracket to use... i was thinking about putting a piece of 2x4 and ell brackets then mount the bracket to that... don't know if that would be very sturdy while underway (especially in rough water).... ideas, pics, and directions would be great....

That's exactly what I used when I changed out the old tv in our master stateroom 3 years ago, and replaced it with a 32" LED tv. I painted the 2x4 black so you can't see it and used galvanized wood screws for a better bite. We've been out in some very rough seas and it's never moved...not to mention it looks great. Unfortunately I don't have any pics, and the boat is in winter storage now. Let me know if you have any questions, and good luck.

The TV is in a boxed compartment. Pick a side and mount an articulating arm near the front edge. Once mounted the flat TV should cover the hole when pushed back. When the TV is pulled forward you'll have the box as storage and maybe a DVD player.

Another option, create a door panel with hinges and mount the TV to that. Behind the door would be extra storage. You can get the same wood grain for the door at restorationmarine.com

Have fun!

Do you have pictures of the install? What bracket did you use?

I installed a 28" HD flat screen on the turn table on my 340....I just used the stand that came with the TV.....I used stainless steel bolts and nuts to fasten the stand to the turn table.... We can watch the TV from the V berth bed or the dinette....I put two black drawer pulls on the front of the sliding tray and use a bungee cord to secure the TV when under way....works very well...plus you gain a storage space behind the TV which we use for bags of chips and stuff like that....I also installed a DVD player on the turn table right behind the TV.....
