I have a new to me (as of March) 2002 240 Sundeck. The boat is in great shape overall, however I did find some rather large areas where the finish has "flaked off" in the ski locker. I did some googling and read some other threads on this site and it sounds like this is cosmetic and nothing to worry about. (please correct me if I'm wrong.... as far as I can tell there's no leaks and the outer hull is in very good shape other than a few very minor nicks)

What's the recommended fix? Should I just dry it out at the end of the season, sand around the flaked off areas and paint it with something like bilgekote?

Since it's in the ski locker I'm not too concerned about the cosmetic appearance and I figured something like bilgekote might be the easiest fix.

mine was like that, grind it all off and then flocoat it.
Pretty easy really. Mine only flake3d after i used a power hose on it, but if you look in your engine bay then you will see the same thing, as if its in the ski locker it is usually in the bilge too
