Just bought a new portlight from Bomar to install on starboard side. When it arrived i was a little confused on how to install. Ive called bomar several times and finally got someone to send me what they consider install instructions for a different portlight model and the four sentences with no pictures isnt helping. Im hoping this team can pull through with some advice. I was confused because screw holes on trim, glass, and inner trim didnt line up. Clarified thats because its not bolt through installation. Outside trim and glass are mounted outside then inside trim. My two main questions are
- for the stainless trim and glass do I just screw down and use some 3M 5200 to seal? Better way?
- Is the inside trim piece even required? Purpose? Not sure official term, but the flange on this trim is about 5/8 deep and my hull is only 1/4 in this area so trim stands off the inside hull quite a bit and surely shouldn't be mounted this way. Am i to grind down to about 1/4 inch to match hull thickness? Really confused.
