I'm having my new to me 2000 230 BR (7.4mpi and bravo 3)taken in, to the shop, for winterization. I'm not home to do my own maintenance, so I have to rely on a mechanic. From the hand full of times I took it out, this year, I haven't experienced many issues. The main glaring one, is the bilge pump does not work.(I rigged up a universal pump, but didn't have to use it) Also, there is a small hole on the bellows for the shift cable. It did take on water, but not enough to be overly concerning. I don't think the water is coming from anywhere, but the bellows, because the cover failed in the rain, and gallons of water made it into the bilge, but none was leaking out. What extra maintenance do I need to do, because of the leak? What regular maintenance should I have done. I was thinking oil change, shift cable bellows, and have everything greased, but is there anything that needs to be taken apart and inspected? Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. it does not have an exhaust bellows. Someone told me that that's not a big deal, and ive actually seen extention tips for sound. Do I need the bellows?

Regarding the bellows, if the shift cable bellows is failing, the others are not far behind assuming they are about the same age. I would consider having all done along with the trim sender / limit switch - it is common to replace all of these items at the same time. Also, give the gimbal bearing a good inspection and check alignment. As far as the exhaust bellows, there is a full bellows and a tube, most Bravo III, larger engines use the tube. I have a tube on my Alpha I that I switched to when I replaced the bellows a few years ago. I would not leave the exhaust bellows off, I would put the tube on. Aside from the transom / bellows change the oil and gear lube, fuel filter and any other tune up items that are due (plugs, wires, dist cap, rotor etc).
