First time owner 2011 sea ray 175 sport general questions

My first question is in regards to the trim; I took it for the first time to the lake, I lowered the trim but I didn't look at the indicator I wasn't sure how long it will take it to go down (I could have looked and checked but I didn't) but I realize that you can constantly hear the hydraulics I thought once the outdrive will get to the lowest level the Hydraulics will just cut off.
So my question; is it supposed to cut off?
The reason that it's bugging me is because once I took the boat out of the water I put the trim all the way up looking at the indicator but the outdrive was still down I had to press harder on the button for it to really go up even though I heard the Hydraulics working before.

My second question; I have a center gauge in the cluster and I am unsure what it indicates if anything?

Is there any basic depth indicator on the small boats only went to the lake for the first time so there might have been something beeping but to be honest if there was something I was so distracted I didn't hear it

Your trim and tilt is working properly. On full down, you will hear a different noise just like turning your car's power steering full over as the pressure bypass is engaged. When you trimmed it up, it stopped at the upper limit of the safe travel zone. This is to prevent owners from trimming too high while the engine is running and causing damage... probably a good safety feature, huh? To get the drive ALL the way up, you had to push the button harder (you noticed a another "click", right?) to engage the "tilt" range.

The gauge is a dummy gauge. It is where SR would have installed a depthfinder.

Beeping sounds while the engine is running is the engine's way of telling you something is wrong, possibly catastrophic. It would be wise to pay attention to it.

It would be a really good idea to take a basic boating safety course.

I really appreciate the fast response, I'm going to look tomorrow into signing up for a course.
I don't think that there was any beeping, all I meant is that I was guessing if there's a depth finder that it would be beeping at some time or another.
Again I really appreciate it, this is truly one of my dreams come true.

Cut everything noise wise. Motor, stereo, wife ,dog, and kids. Lower the unit and listen for the change in sound. You will hear it with no problem.

Depthfinder has a alert for a shallow setting. That may be what you heard

Have your boat winterized in the Fall and do not rely on a kit from Camco. Do not drill large holes in the hull no matter what you read on the Internet.
