they make me go fast
Hello, first time boat owner here, got a crazy idea to boat as my grandparents did and I miss it. Sold a pinball machine and picked up a 1988 200 Overnighter with a Merc140, came with a spare lower end 2 ujoint drive shaft things, a few spare props one SS, LED light trailer in good condition. The previous owner had put the older generation alpha (the one with the hook) upper unit because he had blown up one or two of the A1-G2 upper units. Along with a bunch of "boat stuff" including a nice huminbird GPS charting fish finder.

the only real bad on it was the interior, compression isnt amazing, and turned out the manafold was cracked - but he helped me source a real nice OEM manafold so that is all replaced now. boat has closed cooling loop with a exchanger that looks ok inside.

just finished a full tune up on the engine new carb-kit and ignition stuff. boat runs real nice, Once I figured out the OEM Tach. has bad readings I was able to tune it into perfect idle. bunch of other minor electrical clean up and the family is now fully enjoying boat ownership!

anyway thats my little story - now I am just cleaning it up a little filling gelcoat issues - the OEM swim step was crap so got a new one to put in. I may pull the carpet and paint in some rubberized coating. I also would like to de-construct the bimini and try and rebuild it with new material as this one is shot, also the rear cover is needing repair so thats another possible task. but those are winter projects.

wife and I were out in lake washington yesterday and she said she may allow a bigger boat in 1-2 years if we are still boating regularly! (would love a 260 sundancer or similar)

Anything that floats and runs is a good thing - and I'd say a pinball machine for a boat is a heck of a good deal.

Enjoy boating and remember safety is more than just a word.

Cheers

Welcome aboard

SGM, welcome aboard. Use the heck out of that boat, spruce up the interior a bit, do the maintenance on it and in a couple of years it will be worth AT LEAST as much as you got it for. Just make sure you get your boater safety card. The ticket for not having it will make a dent into your boating budget.

BTW, I like your moniker. I've made probably 25 spud guns over the years. Sold a few, gave most of em away Still a kid at heart, I guess.
