Well, went out this morning. Started right up but did smoke. It was definitely fuel and not oil. Smelled like running really rich. I let warm for about 10 min with some rips of the throttle to try to blow everything out. Left the dock with no issues.

When I went to throttle up to plane, it misfired quite a bit. I throttled back and turned around, heading right back to the dock. I let it run once docked and throttled up and down some more. Smoke still there but not as bad. Kept her running and it seemed to smooth out the longer I ran. I pulled the flame arrestor and there was what appeared to be a lot of raw fuel in and around the carb. Also, the arrestor gills were wet as well. I cleaned everything up real good and put her back together. Started right up and idled fine.

So, tried it again. This time I idled around close to the marina mouth. Slowly worked the throttle up and back but not to plane. Finally, I eased into full throttle to plane. Just a little sputter but it smoothed out and I motored around the rest of the day like a champ. Ran perfect after that and no more smoke. All temp, pressures, etc. were perfect.

I've never experienced this before. New plugs, tune, etc. The only thing I can think of is that the mechanic used a heck of a lot of fogger when winterizing and I had to just burn it off. Anyone experience this?

I can let you know next month ,i fogged the crap out of mine too.

Well it sounds like the flame arrestor was restricted with oil and such thereby causing a rich mixture, the same as would happen with a partially stuck choke plate. I think you've got it fixed now. I usually clean my flame arrestors with Spray nine and hot water and blow dry. They will get an oily buildup from the breather tubes that vent crankcase fumes into the carb. I usually do mine in spring and whenever they look to be building up an oily residue.
