Just put a deposit down on my first boat. It's a 1999 190 Cuddy with a 5.0 and Alpha I. Hope to have it in the water by the end of the month after servicing and registration. Any information about the boat or boating in general would be much appreciated.

I just sold my 1999 Sea Ray 190CC. It was a wonderful boat! It never left me stranded and was economical to operate. I have nothing but good things to say about the vessel. Great choice!

Nice boat, I'm sure it would fun. The advice I offer when operating a boat is to get a routine down. Make it a habit. This helps you from forgeting something like putting the drain plug in when launching the boat. Always run the engine compartment blowers before starting the motor. That type if thing. BTW, if someone owns a boat and says they've never launched it without the drain plug they ain't telling the truth. :)

I also would go through the boat and inspect for loose/missing screws, wiring, etc. Boats are subject to lots of vibration and the screws will back out.

Put together a toolbox with extra fuses, cable ties, hose clamps, screwdivers, pliers etc. You might even carry a spare serpentine belt for the motor.

Get a first aid kit for the boat. Clean the bilge area so if there is a leak from the engine or water in the boat it's easier to diagnose.

If you're trailering the boat learn proper boat ramp etiquette. Which reminds me, do not run the engine unless it has a water supply. Not even for ten seconds. It will destroy the water pump impeller. Merc has a bulletin about it.
Just remember, if you take care of your boat, it will take care of you.

Thanks again for all of the information. I took it out this past Saturday for a few hours and everything went great. I still need a bit of practice getting it back on the trailer, but I guess that will improve in time. Everything worked great on the boat, though by the looks of them I think I will be replaceing my bellows some time soon.

Welcome aboard. Get the bellows done right away if they look bad. If not your docking and trailering skills will be needed in a hurry. Some boats go down in less than a minute.

Just picked up an 01 190 Signature myself. Just in time for Memorial Day
