I've carried an IAC valve in my spares kit for a few years now due to the known issues but was starting to think that maybe I would never use it. Well, not to be. After a 17 day cruise, going 700 miles without so much as a hiccup, I go to start the boat in my slip and the port engine won't idle and I receive a "check engine" alarm with a couple of beeps every few minutes.
This is an easy fix but I did have to score the paint where the valve connects to the base to get it apart. The spare gasket came in handy as well as the old one was in less than reusable shape. I read in previous posts that a spare gasket is not neccessary but I would carry one.
