So I had a blonde moment and wanted to know what you think it will cost me... I have my boat parked in a area that was cut out of a hill. Therefore when I mow my lawn on one side of the boat I am directly parallel with the top portion of the boat. Soooo needless to say I wasn't paying attention (#1 dumb thing) and I had the grass shute pointed towards the boat (#2 dumb thing), picked up a rock and shot it right at the top of the hull. Well above the the waterline. It took a nice chunk out of the fiberglass. Definitely enough to annoy me. Probably about the size of a #2 pencil eraser. Any idea what that should cost me to have fixed 100%? Ballpark?

PS> My buddy really wasn't lying when he said be prepared to shell out all kinds of cash when being a boat owner.

Matt from what you are describing it sounds like something to could repair yourself Check the below like you can get the gelcoat reoair kiy from them And I think there is a simple site with instuctions for gelcoat repair

Good luck

Ya? That would be awesome! It went pretty deep though. I can see the next layer behind the white fiberglass. Still think I can do it?

Had a ding in mine about the size of a quarter. Contacted 'the best' fiberglass repair hop in our area and they estiamted a couple of hundred. Cost was really the time to drive there twice as the actual work would take minutes each visit to the boat. I decided to fill it with epoxy and leave it as a reminder to be careful and to plan my docking procedure.

So I had a blonde moment and

My wife is blonde. Rather offensive of you to impugn her intelligence by referring to your stupidity as a "blonde moment."

Well actually, when someone says they have a blonde moment it does not mean they are stupid as you are implying.... Technically it's when you are rendered temporarily stupid and do/say something that eliminates reason, altogether. Usually, it's applied to mundane instances in life. Hence the word "moment" not stupidity. Therefore, it is not I who is implying that your wife lacks intelligence. It may be that you know her better than I and find that she lacks certain ability and/or intelligence. Godspeed!

PS. I hope you are joking... if not you're an idiot!

Just trying not to get hauled in front of the pc police. Skip might be watching.

That type of damage would be 100 to 150 bucks at our local yard. They do perfect work and it would be invisible when done, but expensive for a ding.

Its not a ding however. It actually took out a chunk of the fiberglass. But

I ordered the patch kit for 30 bucks from a local dealer and I MAY attempt it myself. Worst case scenerio I make it look worse and pay someone to fix it. Probably would cost the same:)

Matt, let me know if you help. It really isn't all that difficult to do.
