How often are you suppossed add a feul additive, after each tank ??? And which brands do you recommend.

Re: Fuel Additive

I use STarbrite STarTron Enzyme Fuel Treatment (for Gas Engines) every time I fill up...It helps protect against a bunch of things, including the E-10 Ethanol in most Gas, as well as stabilizes the gas. I always carry it in my boat.

A fuel tank will last a long time for me, so I add it every time I fuel. If you add fuel every 2-4 weeks I think you don't need it.

Brand is not too important. What is however is whether the fuel you are adding is regular or ethanol mix. Use the proper additive for the fuel you are using.

starbrite startron is what i have been using since the whole E-10 scare began (spring 2006). main problem is keeping the e-10 formulated gasoline from degrading and losing it's octane. startron claims vehemently that it controls this tendency, and i'd have to say i agree. when i start the boat up this spring, the real determination will be made. last winter i stored almost empty and when spring came i had no issues. this winter i stored full. we shall see!

We don't add anything until fall lay up. That fuel will last until the end of May. After that, no additives until mid October. Never had a problem although we do not have e10.

Re: Fuel Additive

Thanks guys! Starbright is what i've heard great things about.

Starbright Startron with each tank of gas, and gas stabilizer with the tank 90-95% full of gas for the winter to prevent winter condensation will keep you trouble free! And replace your in-line fuel filter and water seperating filter in the spring.

Enjoy the boating season!
