Good morning,

If having 2 fender holders on the foredeck, 1 on the port side forward, and 1 on the starboard side forward.

The 2 fenders would be the Big B type

I do want the fenders to be in a single area when stored neatly, but when i need them i want to be able to move them at least 6 feet either way forward, or aft, along the rail.
can i use this?? at maybe 6' away from fender holders:huh:

Those work fine, I use them and it does make it easy to hang and adjust fenders.

Bill,

I use those as well, but I have to take a couple of wraps around the bow rail and tie them off when I get them set...

YES! ..Thanks...Now i have an idea....

Bill,
I found something better - Fendergrips shown below. I just put two TaylorMade fender racks on my boat and purchased four of these. My issue has always been adjusting the fender height to match the rub rail and the dock. With these, it can be done in a few seconds. West Marine, for one of the very rare times, had the best price on the internet.

I picked up six Fendergrips off eBay a month ago for $35 bucks :) I also use Big B's and fender racks. Quick and easy to use/adjust.

I have used Fendergrip holders for years. They are great. Only problem is that if you ever drop them in the water, they do not float. They are a little expensive but well worth it.

I'm with Alex. A clove hitch allows easy adjustment of the fender height, there's no worry about a cheap piece of plastic snapping from too much pull such as when the fender is tight between the boat and the dock and a wave makes the boat move up and down.

Guys, even my wife can do a clove hitch in a second or two. Man Up!!!

My wife can't seem to tackle the clove hitch...but she has other talents, I think.

I bought the fendergrips a few years back but have never used them yet. A clove hitch does work well for fenders height adjustment. I add a half hitch to it after the height is set.

I have always fumbled with the fendergrips, in my opinion they are a pain in the rear.

Toss the fender over the side, wrap the line around the rail one time, adjust height and tie a knot.
