Ordered a new switch for my home network on 1/26 coming from California. Got my tracking number and tried setting alerts up on the FedEx site but can only set up email alerts. Text alerts keep giving an error. Ok...no problem. Well the last time FedEx updated the tracking number was on 2/2. In fact when I click on the link it says can't be found but when I go directly to the FedEx site and paste the tracking number it shows last updated at about 4:00PM leaving Grove City, Ohio. I'm near Pittsburgh, PA. Pretty sure I could have got it here from 4 hours away in less than 3 days. But even if there were issues going to hub A then hub B etc you would think they would still update the tracking history...nope. So no idea where this thing is now. Sent a message to Newegg customer service tonight but don't expect a response until Monday at least. Not Neweggs fault. Switch went out next morning...ugh

It’s all bullshit…. After I placed my order I got this email blaming Covid, because they are following CDC guidelines. I emailed them back and said why don’t you put this excuse on your home page not after the sale. Then I wouldn’t order from you….. got nothing in return. ……
I am so done with this lame excuse

There was a massive winter storm moving across the US this week.

I understand the storm and I'm ok with it but I signed up for alerts for everything...delays, hops, whatever. No updates since Wednesday. Actually I don't even need the switch now but I spent $80 for it. If it's lost somewhere that's fine, just refund my $80. I actually ordered 2 the same day. One was a 5 port and the other a 16 port. The 5 port was coming directly from Newegg but the 16 port was coming from Beach Audio through Newegg. Got the 5 port within a few days. Both were shipped the same day and both coming from California. The 5 port went via USPS while the 16 port went through FedEx

It may have been stolen and they don’t want to admit it. Wouldn’t be the first time that has happened.

FedEx has been a mess for the past 2 years. Many of our packages route through Grove City and it always adds a few days to the delivery, and it goes dark. The worst was a 7 day dark delay for a package at grove city, then it magically made progress to the Pittsburgh hub.

When I check Fed Ex tracking, I'll see a package show up at a distribution point about 40 minutes away from me, with a delivery scheduled the next day. Next, the package goes past me to arrive at a distribution point in West Virginia, about 45 minutes the opposite direction. After sitting there most of the day it next goes to Maryland, where its loaded for delivery back to Pennsylvania a day later than originally scheduled. It just doesnt seem very efficient.

I saw that once too but it was several years ago and can't remember if it was FedEx or one of the others. I think it went from NJ to Kentucky then to Pittsburgh. Very inefficient.

I understand the frustration, it sounds like it’s FedEx Ground, I know several people that work for FedEx Express, and at one point 1/3 of the station employees were out with COVID, and it is the same all across the country, most packages route through Memphis or Indy, the snow and ice storms have not helped, if you’re not on the tarmac loading it, flying the plane in a storm, or delivering the packages on icy or snowy roads, you may not understand how it is to be in their shoes….most of these people care a lot about getting their customers packages to them…but I do hope your packages get to your soon:)

In my experience FedEx is either just fine, or they really screw it up and don’t give a shit whatsoever. Nothing in between.

I ordered a piece of art work from Chicago that was to be delivered in 3 days. On day 5 Fed Ex sent a message that it was in New Jersey and would be delayed getting to West Michigan. It showed up yesterday two weeks later. My son is having issues with Fed Ex on a building project in California. His last two pieces of furniture were shipped via Fed Ex and arrived with with fork lift damage that went right through both pieces. Nothing seems to be working right now.

Ding ding ding. We have a winner. Everything is farqued up. Shippers are hit and miss. Sometimes they deliver as planned. Others, not so much. To my place they are running about 50/50. I have loads stuck all over these days. It seems to take days to go 30 miles. This is the new normal in the post covid world for a while.

On the shipping of larger pieces like furniture, that's been screwed of for a while and seems like a racket.

I've shipped copiers to our regional offices for training in their original boxes, and had them run through by fork trucks. The shipper just delivered it like no big deal. How the F do you do that? We've also had ones delivered that looked like they were dropped off a loading dock. These things are complex electronic devices that retail for tens of thousands of dollars, yet the shippers only pay out pennies per pound in claims. I'm just the product guy that relies on my shipping department, but its aggravating.

I shipped my dockmate hand controller to dockmate for repair via FedEx and they "lost" the shipment. I had to make a claim and I hadn't filled out the value so they gave me $100. The controller is $3000.00 Lesson learned - if you're shipping something of value definitely declare that in the value field.

We had a shipment go lost in November. The truck company searched and searched. The customer wanted to file a claim, which is fine but wanted replacement parts. I said this is not the time for replacement parts, keep them looking for the shipment. They finally found it last week.

FedEx Ground is a shitshow and a 100% different company than FedEx Express. Years ago, I did a short stint at the Indy FedEx Express hub and it's truly amazing the volume they do every night.

Where UPS has them beat, is UPS is one company - ground, overnight, etc. Your overnight package on UPS may take a semi ride if it's close enough...whereas FedEx it'll always go on a plane...no way for them to route it via their ground service...

There was a story about fedex drivers dumping packages in the woods a few weeks ago in Alabama I think, I wonder how much of that goes on that we never hear about

I have noticed much better service lately via USPS and UPS compared to Fed EX. If I am given the choice at check out I automatically go with UPS or USPS even if it cost a few more bucks.
CD
I hope your right Carp, I just ordered a bunch of seafood from the keys for the Super Bowl and it’s coming UPS:)
