Favorite cigar

On those wonderful occasions when I can get a Cuban - then that is a great day! The few a year I enjoy are usually Macanudos - the Crystal Cafe in particular - great flavor and it comes in a cool glass case - what's not to like?

Why in the world would someone who does not smoke want to start when there is so much known information about the health issues related to smoking? If I'm going to do something really bad for my health, it better be for a God damned good reason. An "acquired taste" isn't even close.

Best regards,
Frank C.

Allright;

Wine, Drugs and fine cigars.

Sounds like the life!

Mitch

PS: Just joking about the drugs, not joking about the wine and fine cigars.

Arturo Fuente - Black Label, any size. Great cigar that you can't go wrong with. Of course if you get your hands on a good Cuban, now that is a treat!

My favorite cigar is the Tres Hermanos hand rolled in New Orleans made of boardleaf maduro wrapper by Cigar Factory. My buddy wroks out of New Orleans and when comes back to Arizona he brings them back for me. I also like to try a new kind every couple weeks. www.cigarfactoryneworleans.com They only roll a few types a mild, med, and a full bodied and they have a special stick every once in a while.

Thanks for the Cancer warning. I read it while smoking a cigar and drinking a chilled glass of vodka with 2 olives.

That's like telling a boater not to boat because it burns too much gas (or diesel if you prefer that polluting aroma).

My fav is the one that is being smoked two blocks away ... but I mean that in a good way.

Now back to the topic. I think my FAVORITE cigar is either the cuban Partagas Lusitania or the Cuban Bolivar Torpedo #2. Both will knock your socks off and are super tasty.

Romeo Y Juliet just about any, Arturo Fuente 858, and of course, most any cuban. I was able to bring 2 boxed of Monte C's back from San Pedro Belize last May:smt038:smt038

Were you not the one that was afraid I would not let you say Christmas. :smt009 No I am not deleting it...maybe everyone will see it.

Thanks Wes. I tried it with "gosh darned" but it just didn't work.

Best regards,
Frank

So, can we say "Christmas?"

I took up the habit back in 95' when I moved in across the street from a Cigar bar (the fox chase) and a Cigar store (JB Sims ) which where side by side. over the course of several years I worked my way through just about the whole inventory they carried; but I was never one for a heavy cigar. I eventually setteled on the Macanudo Hampton Court. just the right ring size; just the right flavor. I normally carry at least 2 when I'm out on the boat.

Having developed an appreciation for a fine cigar puts you guys in a group with some of the greatest minds of the 20th century: Sigmund Freud, Winston Churchill, John Kennedy and aficionado Bill Clinton(I don't know if he actually smoked them).

CAO Gold is a fantastic brand. Made by Manuel Pesada I think. The size I would recommend would be around a 5"x52. 5 being the lenght and 52 being the ring gauge. Hoyo de Monterey is another favorite. Don't go to Maduro just yet. They may be too strong for you. Get one with a Connecticut Seed wrapper and Honduran / Ecuadorian long leaf fillers. Pay between 3 and 6 bucks and you should be doing just fine. Baccarat is another mild to sweet one. Victor Sinclair, Filipe DeGregorio. The list goes one. Also, I strongly recommend either Maker's Mark or a good Glenlevet scotch with one.

one that fits everyones budget and taste buds is the Don Tomas brand. they offer quite an array, big-small; strong-mild; connecticut-maduro; and of course $-$$$. one of their labels i found very pleasing and affordable is the Special Edition, provides a smooth smoke at about $5.

now for those that consider themselves aficianados, you cannot not mention Butera Royal Vintage, most refer to this as a "breakfast" cigar, yep, it is that smooth, oh how much? be willing to dig deep!

when i first started smoking cigars i kept a log of every brand i tried with ring and description of the smoke. i beleive i stopped making entries at around the "100 brands" tried mark.

some fun ones, not necessarily all good, were:pinnacle; Great Southern Sauce; George; Wall Street; Backgammon; Double Happiness; Miami Suites; Island Collection - Vanilla; and last one, Sex On The Beach, comes in a vanilla or chocolate flavor!

Ummm, a nice smoke, a Crown and water and a boat on the hook, just can't beat it!

We in Tampa Bay are lucky- many cigar manufacturers and shopsright in town. Arturo Fuente, Cuesta Ray, Thompson, etc. I smoke the Arturo Fuente 858 natural and the Arturo Fuente King B. I buy they at the Tampa Sweethearts location in Ybor City right from Arturo Fuente himself (no joke)!

Hey Jeff, well darn had I known you were into cigars I'd of brought you a few Cubans. Don't let any tell you there isn't a difference between Domincan and Cuban. Cubans are the best. I am heading to St Maarteen late August and always bring back a box or two. Yeah, yeah, I know it's illegal to bring them back, but I bring them for my own pleasure, not for resale. Anyway one of the Cubans I have grown very fond of is a Guantanamera. Very inexpensive, however, a great smoke for sure.

So when I get back in September, I may have to pop a few in the mail to you as a special thank you for turning us on to such a great boat!!!! By the way, it's illegal to mail them as well!!!!!! Oh well!!

Stan...I wouldn't quite say I am into cigars yet....nor do I want to begin to smoke alot to them(gotta keep my 3 times a week up at the gym), but find a brand I like and smoke one occassionally, while on the hook or sitting on the back patio.

Great Topic,

I would have to say my favorite cigar is Ashton VSG in a Robusto with a glass of Lagavulin Scotch. Standers turned me onto the Lagavulin.
