Hi I have a 1999 215 express cruser ,the depth finder reads .05 ,worked fine in the begining of the season.could it be covered with growth? I have never painted the sending unit.

If you keep it in the water it may very well be dirty. Can't hurt to clean the transducer with a soft brush and some dish soap.
