FAA is cracking down at low levels on "commercial" drone usage. A NY politicians family wedding is being investigated for drone usage. The real estate industry is abuzz over the FAA determining that a real estate agents son, who filmed an aerial video for his mothers listing on his recreational drone was a "commercial" use, subject to regulation and, of course, big penalties.

Our world today makes me feel claustrophobic...

The cost of security!...............security doesn't necessarily equal freedom.

It's disgusting where we are headed as a nation.

I see the misunderstanding...politicians are drones in the verb sense. For example, "Harry Reid continued to drone on and on about how secure our borders are." Where as a small un-manned craft is a drone in the noun sense. As in, "That danged drone must have been hovering outside my window while I was writing out my contribution to the Tea Party, which is why I was then audited by the IRS."

I fly R/C aircraft, none of which are drones or have FPV, but the AMA is really concerned about this over-reach by the FAA. Often, I fly from by back yard, and since I live within 3 miles of Porter County Airport (VPZ) which is uncontrolled, I now have to notify the airport every time I fly. Prior to this, the only restriction was that I kept the models below 400 above the ground, which was never an issue. Now, unless I notify the airport, even flying at tree top level is prohibited.

Also, because of these new regulations, anyone who flies an R/C aircraft and is NOT a member of the AMA (you really should be, for many reasons) you are now flying illegally as well, whether it be on private property or not.
This is kinda like saying if we want to drive a boat we have to belong to an internet boating site.
