I'm glad you got away clean! I bumped into a couple of - lets say, less than genuine people when I was looking to buy. One called me about 10 hours before the survey and told me he sold the boat. Funny, a month later, it was still there........

Yea, you're right... there's a few less the genuine people out there. Most of them that I've run into owned the boat for a short time, or not at all... like a broker. But we find that a lot in other things, too... cars and planes.

I've had excellent luck talking with the owner...one that owned it for awhile, enjoyed it and were just selling because of other interests or a bigger or smaller boat. My seller was a great person, even though he wasn't really "boat" smart. He did know a bunch, but not the details. But he was honest and never misrepresented or failed to do what he said, and he certainly had the opportunity.
