due to tropical storm hannah two weeks ago, a lot of water seeped in through the starboard porthole. most of this collected in the cabinet above the sink. the rolling cabinet door is now swollen and cannot be moved. there is a lot of water behind this and i cannot figure how to remove the door/water. the water after 2 weeks now seems to be deterioriating the sliding door/cardboard backing. has anyone els experienced this or have a potential solution?

Sorry, i am trying to figure out how to post correctly as this is my first time. the boat is a 2002 280DA with very low hours (less than 150) and generally in very good shape.

First - the obvious - dry the thing out. Sop up all extra water. Use a wet-vac and suck up every last bit of moisture that it'll get. Do you have A/C? If so, I would hook up shore power and turn that thing on high before everything else starts to go bad. I'm not an expert, but you may be able to recover from some of the damage, but it may take some time. Seeking professional help may save you cash in the long run. Hopefully, the professionals will chime in here real soon.

Next, fix the problem. Why the leak? These portholes tend to loosen up, at least on some of the models. Make sure that it is secure. Tighten the screws as required, then check with a friend outside holding a hose. If it was left open, then prepare yourself for a swift kick in the you-know-what. If that doesn't seal it up, search this site for the complete solution. It has been addressed before.

Finally, give it time for the swelling to go down. I can take a really long time for wood to dry out, and it may never be the same. Hopefully, it will not be noticeable or you will be able to live with whatever you do see.

The 3/4" Cherry Hardwood floors in my living room still have a couple of boards missing from my annual, 1 week deployment to the Fl Keys. I cleaned the heck out of the 100 gal salt water acquarium, then left. Unfortunately, the protein skimmer went haywire the day I left and pumped 5 gallons of salt water overboard under my living room floor. My wife didn't believe me that we needed to wet-vac every last drop up. Over the next week, the floor popped up almost a foot at the apex. I put the floors down, so I'm fixing it. For the last six months, it's just going through the drying phase. It's almost ready finish back up.
