Exposed plates

Today I decided to top off the 4 type 31 batteries on our new (less than 1 month since delivery) 2008 SR 38. To my surprise 3 of the 4 batteries had all the plates exposed and one had a couple exposed. It took almost 2 gallons of water to get them filled to the proper level. I don't think they have ever been filled even while in the dealer show room. I'm sure these batteries are toast and will fail in the near future. Any experience with exposed plates?

They will soon be toast and have very little hope of returning to full capacity.

There is most likely a problem with the charger and you should have that checked.
