Explain your user name.... Go!

So, here's the background on mine, part of which is pretty obvious. My name is Mike and I live in Virginia.

Most of my life, I've been helping people out with directions to places, way before Waze or google maps. Or someone would describe a place and I'd say "isn't that over by xxx". So, friends and family started calling me Mikemap.

Early on in the cyber world, I tried to use Mikemap as my username on some forum, but someone already had snagged it. So, I used Mikemapva and have used it on most online sites since then.

Korkie was my best buddy. He just loved boating and being out on the water. Just seemed like a proper way to remember him. This is him on our previous Maxum 2700.

American Muscle is at its peak right now. The car companies are building rocket ships. Gt500's, Hellcats, Demons, Trackhawks, ZL1's.... They all are lethal. ;)
My friend just bought the GT500. He already has a Shelby GT350 and let me drive it once. That was only 525hp . I can’t imagine this 700+ hp beast.

Well, back in the mid -90s when I first started using Hotmail I needed a user name. Amazingly, there is more than one Tim Smith in the world. I was playing a lot of golf back then and Highslice was what my drives looked like. Seemed as good a user name as any, so I used it. I cured the slice but I kept the user name ever since so I wouldn't have to remember something else. Plus, people don't tend to describe their golf game using its worst attribute, so it works just about anywhere.

We might have to schedule a rendezvous with other owners up there next summer! I think Nater and some others might show up!!
You better believe it! I fully expect this next year will be when we'll be able to enjoy Into the Mystic rather than spend every waking moment wrenching on her.

It's interesting to hear the "the first time I had to create a login name because of the internet, email, etc." stories.

Same here, I had to come up with a name for AOL, my buddy was standing behind me and said "You play tennis, use your racket name and the current year", so I did. That was in 1996, so it was my racket name at the time and 1996.

Back in those days I played with a Borg Pro "composite" racket (because it was made with multiple layers of different types of wood) strung with black graphite super tight. I look at in now and compared to modern rackets, it looks like a toy.

My Gofirstclass comes from my email address I've had for many, many years.

Funny story attached to that---we were at a party and someone asked me for my email address. I told him and a 3rd person at the party who was VERY drunk said "Was that gophersass?" We all got a kick out of it so when I got home I set up a new email address using gophersass as my login. It's still there but I never check on it

The boat name "Beachcomber" comes from my CB radio handle from way back in the early 70's. I used that handle because as a kid I spent hours walking the beaches of Lake Huron looking for treasures.

What is the setting of your profile pic?

Somewhere in Europe as I recall... maybe Ireland?

In 2018 we took a 17 day trip to Europe and spent most of that time on Viking River Cruises boats. Most times the boat would cruise to a new destination at night so you have the entire day to do land trips, sight seeing, etc.

The day that photo was taken we were in Germany. We got off to walk and found a large flea market near the ship so we wandered down there. I bought Tina a beautiful glass bowl that's cut glass, blue and clear. Love it.

That photo was taken on the bridge we had to cross to get to the flea market.

Funny thing, before we got off the boat the staff warned everyone to be aware of pick pockets and "grab and dash thieves". While standing in line for some food I noted a guy in his 30's dressed in black with a long coat (it was a nice, warm day) who stood about 10' from us. He kept getting closer so when he was about 5' behind us I turned to confront him and said "Don't even think about it". He immediately turned and scooted away.

I played on the USAF volleyball team way back when. I have 5 kids. My jersey # on my college VB team was 99. Put it all together...

Mine is simple, a nickname a coworker gave me a few years back.
