My Highfield aluminum RIB has gone completely end of life. Should I just take the whole thing to the dump or is the aluminum hull worth keeping for some reason I haven’t thought of?

Recycler. There has to be a depot around you (steel scrap guy)… take it there they weigh it and give you cash

I thought I read on here that they could be retubed. I'm not sure but maybe it was @ocgrant that mentioned it.

I also think they can be retubed. maybe not.

I checked a few retube companies. Not cost effective for my 8’ 6” rib.

just curious, how long did it last? I hope to keep my new 310 around for quite a while

Ten years. I bought it used after 3 years. I never covered it. It’s hypalon. It oxidized regularly and eventually a lot of the coating oxidized away exposing the mesh fabric weave. Air weeps through the weave. I was amazed at the oxidation rate and the amount of “chalk” that got all over me before I would clean it.

ah that’s pretty good. Ours is pvc but our season is all of 4 months and it’ll be covered anytime it’s not in use then stored indoors

Now might be a good time to play with some flex seal spray. Just to see. Might be able to sell it to some kid for his first boat to paddle around in and fish. Did that with a kid and an old livingston I had.

Cut off the tube for easier disposal

Maybe a local "freecycle" system could move it along for you painlessly.

I live in the city, we have alleys behind our houses for trash pick, service access, etc. I hear the "alley trucks" drive by often looking for stuff to pick up. I will leave things like this next to my trashcans and it's usually gone the next day. I will even put a note on the, some times like "it still works, but...". I have also used NextDoor to give free stuff away. I did that this week with a printer/copier/fax.

Visited recently with a friend who had his dinghy retubed, he was completely happy with it.

His had a console so a little more expensive, but might be worth looking into.
