Hi Sea Ray mates, I test drove a ‘06 260DA with MX6.2 with B3, and we only got 4800 at WOT (clean hull)? Does this sound correct, considering the engine is rated for 5000-5200 max rpm. many thanks
Did you trim up to get maximum? Maximum WOT for the 6.2 is listed at 5000-5400. When you factor in the B3, gear ratio, and other conditions, 4800-5000 sounds right to me.
Yeah...what Jim said...also it's a 14 year old boat and engines tend to get a little tired after a spell.....
Just a slight clarification in numbers... 5000-5400 is the new Mercruiser-made 6.2. The older 6.2 was a Mercruiser/GM thing... that one was rated 4800-5200. Other than sharing liters, two completely different engines. But, as mentioned, there are variables at play that need to addressed... sea conditions, properly trimming, load on boat, etc.
4800-5000 is good for an older 6.2. I get 4900 out of my 07 in optimal condition with 40 degree air, 4700 in 95 degree summer heat. Tanks full same load 07 260/6.2 horizon
