I have my engine out and removed the Y-pipe to find both my shutters are badly corroded and the Port side is actually broken in half.
Do you guys have a part number for these? I was doing some research and there are a ton our there. I also saw somewhere that they sell plastic units to avoid these problems.
Ive got a 1990 7.4 carb with a bravo1.

My manifolds have a 3" extension block under the risers. Are the shutters that important, I am all for piece of mind, and will replace them, but in my application, are they really needed?

Thanks in advance

They will prevent water from swamping your engine and entering your cylinders under certain circumstances....replace them. The new style are easy to pop in place. Here is a pic of the new style.

I am in a similar position. How do you get the old ones out they are riveted to top of the riser? Then do the new style ones just pop in?

They are at the top of the Y-pipe....where your elbow connects with the rubber boot. You just work the old ones out...no rivets and push new style in place.

Just replaced my old ones with the new style. Old one on the port side was rattling a lot. Breeze to replace. Slide out pin, Hold on to old dlapper or you will drop it down the Y-Pipe. New ones come with instructions. Real easy.
