1996 330 Sundancer with 7.4l 300 hp. mercruisers (V drives)with Weber carb's. Getting alot of black smoke on initial start up after several days of not running.(on stbd. engine) Clears up after several minutes. I suspect issue with the electric choke / ckt. Any ideas?

black smoke is usually a stuck choke.

Agreed, It happens to my 5.0 every time the electric choke wire comes off and it over fuels. After a few minute it clears up and all is well. I did replace the champion plugs to Autolites as they do not foul as badly once they get fuel soaked.

Thanks guys..ordered a new electric choke repair kit today after confirming this a:m that the voltage was good to the terminal on the electric choke and the butterfly was not responding, will report back after the repair. Love the Tiara in Western Michigan, what is your home port? Mark

Update, replaced electric choke ass'y... the negative terminal rivet on the old one had worked loose, high impedance connection... back in business.
