Ex SeaRay owner killed on Detroit river

That's just so sad. May they both RIP.

That is unbelievably terrible, and even crazier than now those children have no parents, since their mother passed away last fall.

Seems hard to flip a boat of any reasonable size but yesterday we hit a wave for the first time that made me back it down. I doubt we would have flipped but it definitely wouldn't have felt good. Following behind an empty tugboat that was putting out a decent wake then 2 ski boats came flying by the opposite direction and I pulled out to pass the tug and when the waves met there was about a 4' deep hole in the water. I was on plane as the waves originally were less than 2' and I had a good angle on them. The deep hole formed just as I got there so I grabbed the throttle and backed it down just in time. We did bounce over them but I'm glad we didn't hit them on plane.

What a terrible tragedy. How fortunate it wasn’t worse with so many aboard.

Very sad indeed.

"Chiles, 52, is survived by three children, Robbie, 15, Isabella, 14, and Jacob, 10. The body of his wife, Christine, was found in September 2019 near the boathouse of their home. She'd been reported missing days earlier. Her death was ruled a suicide."

Your heart has to go out for those 3 kids....what a tragedy

Witnesses say 3 boats were racing, he was one.
We were heading in from a dinner cruise on a friends boat and had to slow down to avoid them crossing. He wrecked shortly after. We did not see it. Evidently he veered suddenly caught a wake and the gunwale caught water flipping it. One motor was twisted and the T-top torn completely off. I saw the boat on Saturday in a storage building with a tarp over it but did not get close.
Very sad and close to home.
