Looking to put in a Raymarine Evolution auto pilot in. Does anyone have one that could comment on how well it works, was it an after market install, was it difficult to install, how well does it work etc.?
Has anyone hooked it to a C80?

Have evolution and C80. It's not plug and play so you will need some cables etc. After you get it you will wonder what they put a steering wheel in the boat for. I use throttles, shift levers, and autopilot. Hardly ever use the wheel. Comes with a transducer that shows where the rudders are at all times. Great unit.

Thanks for the info. Did you install it after market or did it come with the boat? What type of steering do you have and what part of the steering system is the autopilot driving?

We upgraded our electronics a year or so ago and changed out the auto pilot although we really liked the Simrad installed on the boat when it was new. As you know, there has been a switch to digital everything from analog since 2004. My subjective view of the Evolution is that it is very easy to use and intuitive. It works well. I do believe it allows a little more cross track error than the Simrad did which almost always showed 0.0 NM with a rare .01 plus or minus. The Evolution shows 0.0 on its way to a plus or minus .01 NM. It tends to "S" a bit but not so much as to be annoying. All in all, I like it.
