Here's a little more info. It's more complicated. The tournament rules require that those fishing comply with NC fishing laws. The mate on that boat, from Virginia, was also the mate last year. but last year it was a charter boat and had a blanket license. This year, the boat had a new owner and does not qualify for a blanket license. So, the mate didn't have one, but bought one online, via satellite, on the way back to the dock. The boat owner is taking the position that the fish was caught far enough offshore that NC did not have jurisdiction. With over $1 million on the line, it is a hot topic. Rumor is that there will be a settlement. We'll see.
 
Thanks, Captain. I did not realize this was not a closed issue. I'm pulling for him. If not for the loss of the money, but the record for sure.
 
That's got to be tough. :smt009 All that work to be just 9 minutes late. Not sure which fishing story is worse now.
