Re powered: 383 Strokers w/ B III Drives
I saw her today (she's at our summer house) and can't wait 'till she's afloat. Of course that's after all the work to get her ready. Most I don't mind....but those outdrives :smt013. Hopefully there are several of us here looking to share rants, raves, ideas, etc... So here we go!

Amberjack,
You won't have too much of a problem with the outdrives in our waters, depending on which side of the cape you are. I have BIII's, and although they ate much more zinc than my previous Volvo Duo-prop, they seam to be OK. I think the boats in warm waters fair worse with corrosion.

Hello and good morning from another Amberjack owner.

So far, Moondancer, our 2006 290 has about 3.5 hours under power and that was during the "test drive".

After the test drive, we bought it and it is was winterized and taken out of the water until this April when the dealer will complete commissioning all the systems and do the checkout and delivery to us.

Moondancer is equipped with the Inboard V-Drives, Generator, A/C, live baitwell, GPS/FishFinder/ChartPlotter, etc.

Other that our test drive, before it was taken out of the water, we spent a couple of afternoons aboard, enjoying lunch and just getting a good feel of the layout, etc.

Good luck!!

Sam and Brenda

Re: Outdrives

We keep our boat in a brackish water inlet in East Falmouth. Water temps in summer pushing 80 degrees. If they ever find a commercial use for barnicles, the water I'm in will be a gold mine. The drives themselves I treat with Trilux 33 (painted on, have had better luck than with the spray type) and the drives are always fairly clean. It's the barnicles on things like the stainless hydraulic lines to the trim cylinders, the mercathode unit below the outdrive mount, inside the props, bellows, etc that is a pain because you have to be careful and do it all by hand. I probably spend as much time on the drives as I do on the whole rest of the boat!

Spring is Coming!
