Engine Zincs on 8.1s???

I can't find any reference to engine zincs in the manual for my 8.1 engines - so I guess that means it doesn't have any that need to be replaced regularly?

Is that true? Seems odd that some marine engines would have them and other wouldn't.

My kohler gen has a zinc in the cooling system.

I don't think the 8.1's have engine zincs. At least I did not change mine in 2 year :huh:.

My Crusader 8.1s have one zinc each. Each sits at the top of the cooling system at the aft end of each engine where it can be remove easily while kneeling on the cockpit deck with engine hatched raised. Each simply unscrews. Merc must have at least one per engine on a closed cooling system setup.

Maybe it's those "sacrifical manifolds" they are kind enough to supply that make the zinc unnecessary
