Yes. It's from the engine compartment carb area. No leaks anywhere else on boat. I understand what I'm doing wrong now. I'm pretty mechanical with almost anything, but this is my first boat so I'm humbling myself with things that are second nature to you guys. Thanks.

This site is to help people, someone had to tell us.

You can't just "push" the throttle only button. You have to push the throttle only button in (and hold), then "shift" forward. But, let's back up because it seems like you're going all over the place without understanding.

The "throttle only" button at the base of the control (where it pivots) is also referred to as a "shift disengage" button. It disengages the shifting action and only throttle works when you move the lever forwards or backwards. Once you do that, and get the control to the first detent, you can let go of the shift disengage button and operate the control in "throttle only mode". Once you bring it back to the neutral setting, everything resets.

Do this while looking at the shift/throttle linkages on the engine - it'll make more sense and you'll understand better how things work.

Started right up! Your advice worked perfectly. After burning off the excess gas and shaking like a bronco, it smoothed out after a minute or so. Wish I knew this at the dock this weekend as i flooded it sitting in the water. Oh well, I might get a last run in this Sunday. Thanks again to everyone who took the time to help me. I'm relieved going into Winter now.

Don't forget to hook up your muffs with the water running, may sound stupid but I did it once on an outboard killed the pump right away.

Yep. Had it in a tub of water (in the barn). Intake fully submerged.

Glad you got it sorted. Along the lines of what Mike said, there was a time when every one of us didn't know about this. It's just a matter of when we find out.

Thanks. I'll run it again tonight and then drain the water from the two plugs on side of engine. Going down to about 15 degrees Thursday night. Do I need to drain anywhere else such as the thermostat hose, or does that water drain out one of the plugs?

the pumps dosent actually suck water in and on a alpha drive the water level should be 2 inches above the cavitation plate
If you mean the 2 blue hoses , then Yes. Remove them and let the block and manifold drain/
