engine won't start

starboard engine won't start, controls power steering too, not sure why it won't start , looking for suggestions thx

Does it crank but not start?
If so, check for spark.
If you have spark, check for fuel.

If it doesn't crank, check for power at the starter. You should see 12v on the thick wire all the time (with battery switch on) and you should see 12v on the small wire (aka "S" wire) when turning the key to "start"

Do not forget to check the neutral switch.

Probably something simple if was doing fine. Like Kevin said, check the shifter is in proper place. Sometimes mine will say neutral, but will need a little nudge one way or the other to get it in just the right place. Then start with the other stuff. More info onb exactly what it is or is not doing would be helpful in providing recommendations to troubleshoot.

Talk about panic when the boat doesn't start after being out on the hook all day and find that the controls are not in neutral or when I had a sport boat the safety switch slightly ajar.

thanks for feedback , it does crank over fine just wont fire, i did move the shifter around because i heard that could do it , so i will pull it out of water tomorrow to figure it out

got it started , moved around the shifter a bit and it finally started, i think that was it , not sure , thanks
