Having trouble starting engine, it started then stopped, now I see no fuel going into the carb, when I move the throttle up and down nothing, no fuel, I tried adding a little gas in the carb and it did almost start, any ideas, tanks are low and tried switching between tanks , starboard motor runs fine.:smt013

fuel pump or fuel filter would be my first check.

am going to check to see if there is fuel in the filter, if there isnt any can you add fuel to the filter to help get it back primed up?

Well it's not a prime issue. You may have lost your pump.

If you have some help, the most basic way to do it is to remove the hot wire from the coil "For safety" then, remove the gas line from the carburetor and put the line into like a large coke bottle or clorox bottel and you hold the line. Have some one turn the engine over and see if you have fuel flow from the line. There are better better ways to test it like installing a gauge or a clear fuel filter but I am trying to keep it simple.

if there was fuel , would you see it in the carb when pushing your throttle up and down ? I will try your idea in the am, thanks. or if there is fuel in the filter can that still mean the pump needs replaceing

No, not necessarily Your "BOOSTER PUMP" could be bad. this is a plunger pump that uses gas in the bowl to shoot that stream of gas when you pump it. They can and do go bad.

confirm fuel in or to the carburetor first. There is a order to the diognostics. I can tell you don't do much mechanical work so I am just trying to keep it basic for ya!

thanks will check for fuel to carb first thanks..
