engine water hose replacement

Any one out there have any advice on replacing all engine water hoses on 2005 4.3mpi/alpha 1 (2005 280 sundancer)? Hoses are kind of "crunchy" to the squeeze.Who has the best deal on repalcement hoses, do's and don'ts etc.I think i can do the work myself.

Crunchy? After 5 years? I think I'm still on my original hoses? Mine aren't "crunchy" yet?

I just did my A/C coolimg lines from the intake to the strainer. is heavy duty $4.32 @ Ft. Also did the genny ones. Was in the hole when I noticed they were cracked. Hey the boats an 89. I got the hoses at West marine. I looked at the others and they looked OK. Used new clamps also.
Theyt were a #itch comming off. had to cut and tug. The hose has a wire in it.

Tip to help with removing the old hoses, go to Sears and pick up a Craftsmen cotter pin remover. It's a great tool to break the hoses loose from the various pumps and strainers. Stick the end of the tool between the hose and fitting and work it back and forth.

"When in doubt, change it out" that old addage works for many things. If you think the hoses feel weird, then it would be a good time to change them. I don't understand the cotter pin removal tool reference. I've always used a screw driver or just slit the end of the old hose with a razor blade and pulled it off.

I think what Dasch is referring to is the 3rd tool down. It does do a great job of breaking the hose seal in tight spaces.
