oil pumps are standard rotation, same as the dist clockwise. The camshaft is also different on a reverse rotation engine along with the front and rear main seals. Internally, the pistons squirt hole is also reversed and most reverse rotation motors use a gear drive and not a chain drive for the cam

The distributor is rotating CCW with the original starter in it. Having trouble finding a starter that turns CCW.

So I went and got the old engine. Pulled the timing chain cover and look what I found. . . guess I need to call it a timing gear cover from now on on this engine. Looks like Sea Ray used a countering rotating engine in this particular application.
