Engine Quits after running for a few minutes and doesn't restart

Just purchased a 24' 2005 Sea Ray Sun Deck with a 350 Magnum Mercruiser. The engine quits after a short time running; we hear a couple of beeps and "check engine" displays on the dash. On trying an immediate restart, the engine does not crank. After 15-30 minutes the engine cranks and runs for a minute and stops again. Has anyone come across this issue? Thanks!
