Howdy all,
Need to clean and repaint some rusty areas on my engines. I have white Caterpillar engines (except for the rusty areas of course). Any recommendations as to the type of paint and color? I was going to use a spray automotive primer after wire brushing the bad areas. And then paint.
Thanks.
Brett

I use an automotive acrylic enamel from a local auto parts store. A quart, when you dilute it and spray it in a Preval sprayer, last 5-6 years if you do annual touch-ups. It is better paint, lasts longer, holds up better and costs less than Cat paint in a rattle can from your Cat dealer. The correct color is 1989 Nissan Paris white, color code KH5.

After frank gave me same advice, I found the Nissan Paris white online at a good price and bought a quart. Matches perfect. I have the sprayer but have only touched up with a brush to date. Rembrandt couldn't do any better. Someday I'm going to see how close the color is to the westerbeke gen enclosure white.

Do you remember where you purchased on-line?
