Engine Oil filter hose leak

My 2001 310 Sundancer has a remote oil filter. The combination metal and rubber hoses connect the oil filter to the engine oil sump-(3 foot run) with various turns. Over time oil continues to leak at the rubber/metal interfaces-dripping into the bilge. This configuration was part of the original Mercruiser Model 350 Horizon engine package.

Any suggestions on how to stop these interface fittings from leaking?

The problem originated when the hoses were new. The crimp band securing the rubber material(?) hose to the metal tubing allows oil te seep out. Looks like a design flaw.

I had an oil leak in my 1998 270SE. Turns out my hoses are leaking as well. Marina said replacement hose is around 90 dollars. Could have been a worse problem though. Should be an easy fix.

Check out the automotive guys, and the hot rod stores. They have stainless steel braided, high pressure hoses to their remote oil coolers and filters, in various lengths and fittings.

Do you have any hydraulic shops in your area? They can make any kind of hose on the spot. A properly crimped hose should not leak.
