There is a lot of discussion about changing impellers. Mine shot craps last year in the genset and I changed it myself. Several of the vanes were broken off, but with some pics that CSR member posted, I backflushed with a garden hose and retrieved the broken pieces. I bought my boat in 2006 and the engines had about 53 hours and had never had the impellers changed. I now have about 155 hours on the engines and just had them changed. I wasn't quite confident enough to try it myself...and really wasn't sure were to start...so I had the marine change them. Here are the pics of my old impellers....still in pretty good shape...no vanes missing...but a few crack developing. Anyway...thougt I would share the pics...showing both sides of the impellers.

Interesting..thanks.

Curious whether all 155 hours were freshwater use?

"So this begs the question - how often do you need to change impellers?"

and how? Is it documented on here somewhere?
