Yeah I re-thought that one and that makes sense and why the serial tag is in three different spots on the engine.

It NEVER just makes sense right out of the gate with boats

I still haven't figured out the meaning behind the designation of the first two digits. The first one is always a number and the second one is a letter. But, for example, it was "0K" for a while and then "0L", then "0M"... that's making sense, right? Then next iteration should be "0N", right? Nope. Skipped a whole bunch of letters and went to "0W".

Yeah with regard to the actual thought behind their "numbering" schema, that doesn't make any sense, but never did. But I was referring to your comment about the many blocks, that does make sense.

Quick update, not going to the boat today, Neuropathy holding me back today. Hopefully tomorrow

So late bump here. Went to the boat most of the day yesterday. No merc tags behind above the starter on either engine. Casting numbers are unreadable until I get back there with a wire brush. For got to look at the front pad. Going down tomorrow or Tuesday to change oil in the Starboard engine and maybe start tune ups. I’m sure this is what I was looking for. It isn’t there and no punch marks if a tag was installed and came off.
