As in my signature I have an 07 230 select with the 350 mag engine. Can a fuel injected engine be fogged and is it necessary?
Thanks

The direct answer to your question is yes; it can and per Mercury should be fogged.

The correct procedure per Mercury does not involve fogging oil.

Scott (the person who posted above me) made a excellent post with step by step directions on how he properly fogs his MPI (fuel injection) engines.

Boy I tried to find the post for you but I just could not find it. I’m hoping someone will find Scott’s post and post a link to it.

I also use the ez store product. The manual for your engine has a specific cocktail to run through your engine, and if you search it was discussed on here recently. However, Mercruiser has changed the procedure on the new engines with catalytic converters. Same engines as yours/mine, different exhaust. New procedure is do nothing. Fogging will damage the converters.
So, i am comfortable with a fuel treatment to aid in rust prevention since merc says do nothing is fine.

I also use Ez store-EZ start. Trying the old fogging procedure is a pain.
