I want to keep our "New to Us" boat in the water, it doesn't seem to have a flush system. How and what do I need to add for this?

It is a 2006 300 Sundancer w/ 5.0L Bravo III

Without earmuffs, I'm thinking you'd have to tap into the hose that carries water into the engine mounted raw water pump.

outdrive--> raw water hose--> in-line ball valve shut off--> T-with valve to connect garden house--> hose to raw water pump.

Yep, thats what I was thinking. My VP had that system. But never flushed in the water.

So I would need 2 ball valves per side? Restrict sea water from entering while flushing with fresh water?

Has anyone done this?

I did it on my previous boat, which was a single engine outdrive. Worked very well.

I converted to a water intake like inboards use - through hulls, strainers, seacocks, etc and neutered the drive intake - just be sure to "cut the hose" from the outdrive to the bellhousing to assure flow through cooling of the drive itself - It is now easy to flush/winterize the boat through the strainers and has the added benefit of not sucking up sand when in shallow areas - mods like this have been discussed several times on this forum - feel free to search - other than this perko makes a simple inexpensive kit to flush outdrive equipped boats but the best (and some say only to be endorsed by merc) kit is by superflush - I believe their website is www.superflushsales.com
