Hi Everyone,

Does anyone have any thoughts on a possible temperature issue I may have. I have a 1999 215 Express Cruiser with a 5.0 Mercruiser, Alpha 1 outdrive, the boat is new to me. Once the engine warms the, temperature gauge fluctuates from 175-200. Once it reaches 200 it slowly drops back to 175 and then this repeats again. When the temperature reaches the high point of 200 degrees, one riser feels cool-warm, the other feels warm-hot to the touch, but I can hold my hand on it. The engine is cooled by raw water. Had the out drive serviced in the spring with a new impeller and I replaced the thermostat with a 160 degree. Thanks for any advise!

Re: Temperature Fluctuation?

Appreciate your response!!

I purchaces the themostat and gaskets from a marine dealer who services Mercruiser. I didn't ask or notice if it was a Mercuiser part or aftermarket.

I did replace the gasket that goes between the thermostat housing and intake manifold along with the #3 gasket in the diagram. The gaskets I used looked just like the ones in the diagram. I didn't use a gasket sealer for either gaskets.
