I own a 2002 300 Sundancer with T/350 MAG engines. While cruising at idle speeds last night, an intermittent alarm activated and it was isolated to the starboard engine. The engine began to run very ruggedly and kept shutting down. All fluids are full and the new (30 days old) batteries are fully charged. Any ideas or help are appreciated. Thanks.

How about idle air control valve (IAC) bad?

Typically the alarms are for overheating, low oil pressure, or low out-drive lube.

Thank you for your response. I have incurred the solid or continuous alarm for one or more of those conditions. However, this alarm consists of 2, 1-2 second beeps about every 45 seconds. I have never received this alarm before.

I appreciate your input.

It's definately the IAC, I had it go off during a five hour trip last summer (Loud alarm every two minutes!!!). Runs rough a low RPM's and will stall when stopped. $100 part and reasonably easy install. Good Luck.

Thanks to all for your advice. It was right on spot. I installed a new IAC today and she works like a charm. I should have asked you guys earlier. Thanks again.

Make sure to pick up a spare for next time. These valves seem to fail every few years. I have read on this site that somtimes you can clean out the valve and reuse them but I have not tried this yet. I just pitch the fubr'd one. There is also a small $1 muffler/filter that needs to be changed on occasion that is just upstream from the IAC.
