Engine alarm setup?

trying to make sure i have my engine alarm setup properly.

When i turn my key on i get an imediate beep and then around 5 seconds later it starts beeping about every 3 seconds. Is this correct?? Is it supposed to keep beeping.

not sure if it will go off when motor is started at the moment cause i cant start it right now.

I have the purple hooked to a purple and tan/blue actually hooked to a yellow wire heading back to engine.

I dont see any tan/blue wire under the dash anywhere.

I was just making contact to wires that had been spliced into before to see if one works.

The other wire i tried it to gave me a constand beep when i turn the key on. Is that how its supposed to be?

Would appreciate some help here as im hoping to splash tomorrow to see the fire works and i dont want to go out unless im sure my alarm is working properly. This is a brand new engine.

By the way, the boat has a 10 pin harness, engine has a 14 pin plug but im using a pigtail adapter that came with the engine.

I have twin 496MAG and get only one beep when ignition turned on, no other beeps. I'm afraid I cannot help on the wiring.

I'm starting to wonder if i was getting the extra beeping due to there is no oil in the out drive reservoir yet?

I guess i figured this out and wanted to update this in case others weren't sure about theirs.

It would beep when i turned the key on and then 5 seconds later would start beeping every 3 seconds. (that was with no oil in the out drive remote tank)

Now that Ive added oil I only get the one beep when turning the key on.

I guess i hit the right wire.
