Has anybody heard that Sea Ray has stopped makeing the 240SD?

I'd be shocked if the stopped making the 240SD. I think its the best bowrider searay makes. Plus its probably the best bowrider to take across the gulf stream to bimini.

Although I am biased, I use to own one.

The 240 Sundeck (in it's current guise) is out of production. Dealers cannot order them anymore and your local dealer should be able to confirm that.

If you want a new 2009 you need to find a dealer that still has them in inventory. They are still the best buy in the whole Sundeck series because of their (relatively) low price compared to the newer model Sundecks. So if you want a new one, don't delay or they will likely be gone.

Hmm wonder if that will make the value of our 240's go up or down.

Dave,
Great to hear from you, we have missed you. Yes that is what I'm hearing too. They have stopped production of the current 240.

Yes, I wonder how future sea ray buyers will get to the bahamas...

While at the Atlanta boat show.I was told that the 230SD was replacing the 240SD.So that there would be an difference in length between SD models.Meaning 230SD to 260SD.

Yeah Dave. Good to see you back online. I hope everything is good.

Interesting, I was told they were coming out with a new 250SD. The 230SD was the replacement for the 220SD:huh::huh:

That is the same thing I heard. But I think we will have to wait and see on that one. I am still convinced that Sea Ray originally intended to replace the 240SD with the 260SD and then backed off that decision. The 260SD is the exact length as the 240SD so I suppose a 250SD would be a bit smaller than a 240SD.

You may be right. I was told they came out with the 260 because they would not allow a big block engine in the 240:huh:

Interesting.

I'm not an engine person.

It looks like based on your link in 2000 they offered a 7.4 MPI engine
In 2009 the biggest engined offered is a 6.2 MPI Engine.

Is either one of those a big block??

After a little bit more checking it looks like the 2000/2001year was the last time they offered the 7.4 engine.

The 6.2 is a small block. The 7.4 is a big block. It has been superceded now with the 496 or 8.1 liter engines but the external size of the two engine blocks is essentially the same. Then there is SeaRay Jim's 540 Cubic inch mega horsepower 65+ mph 2000 240SD which started life with a 7.4. So there is no doubt the Big Block will fit in a 240SD and the 240SD can handle the torque and horsepower as well.

I would say in a 220 SD however that has been discontinued as well :)

I am not a big fan of the new SD's. They are loosing usable floor space and going up in price. They look a little newer, but the price is too high! I could have got a 240 SD for less than a 230 SD....WTF?
