I have the standard 340 canvas without screens. I want to have zippered smilies with screens or zippered frownies with screens installed.

Offhand the frownie pro is when it's unzipped it falls down on its own, no immediate need to roll it up. Also, it's easier to have them partially unzipped.

Your thoughts please!

I do not have any screens. But mine are frownies and really like them. I can unzip a little from the top to allow for air flow. Mine also has covers over the zippers so no leaking.

Thanks wet dog!

Hard to believe you're the only guy with modified isinglass. Amazing isn't it?

It is. I was looking for a picture for you today and nothing up close. Will take a few this weekend and post.

Thanks dog! I like the frownies for the very reason you posted...the option for partial opening. Also, if I want to open them all the way I can without rolling them. Zip...open. Frownies are much harder to find pics of than smilies.

I like the smilies better than the frownies. My camper canvas has a frownie and I think its a pain to have to roll it up and put behind the rear seat. Its still jsut stays in the way.

On my new canvas I thinking of getting Smilies and maybe installing a snap in the glass and the canvas above my head and just snapping teh glass to teh canvas. Then no rolling up needed!

Stopped by the boat on my way back to the office and took a few shots so you can see what we have. I really like it as I don't have to remove the glass. They zip down and roll-up. See the rain flap over all the zippers on the exterior shot.

'Dog your man sure did a nice job. I like how the zippers are up close to the edge of the panels so they're not in your view. And the zipper covers...very nice. With frownies do you just let them hang open, no rolling?

AllTideUp....a captain buddy of mine suggest the same if I go with smilies. A snap on the canvas above so no rolling needed.

I have frowns on my 3 front curtains. Smiles on the 2 sides. I had screens put on the center front and the 2 sides. I also have the camperback with screens on 3 sides.
This way I can totally screen in the boat and have ventilation from all sides. I kept my 2 front (port and STB) windows without screens as to not hinder visibility.
I had to have the canvas guy change out the middle window screen for a finer mesh screen that was more transparent as it was hard to see through.
I love them.

Thanks Wet Dogggg!! I sent a copy of yours to my guy, I want that quality or nothing.

One more example of the many benefits this website provides.

Art, as I said above I'm leaning toward frownies, and don't mind them hanging open. The one downside for me with all frowns is I like to use the window as an armrest quite a lot. I guess I could let the window lay open outward across the grabrail. Your configuration allows me to have ventilation and an armrest as long as I don't put screens in the side windows. I like your choice of screened middle window and not the port and starboard panels for the reason you stated.

I, too, have a camper canvas with screens and screen covers, no isinglass. Sadly we haven't used it much simply because of opportunity. When we have, it's wonderful. We have a trip coming up in June and are planning to use the camper canvas, that's made me wonder about modifying the helm canvas.
