I have a 1988 sundancer 340, I need to empty the holding tank, but cant figure out where to put the "Y" valves. Sea cock is open and I know how to flush straight out from head, but not from holding tank. No matter what position the "Y" vlaves are in, it trips the breaker is I hold the macerator on long enough. Thanks for the help.

you probably didn't use you macerator for a while and can be seized or something stuck and cant pass through macerator or y-valve
that could be a "smelly"job to repair

handle on y-valve shows which hose is open

\ Y - opened top left and bottom
/ Y - open from bottom to right

my "Y" valves do not say anything on them. That is what is driving my crazy. How can I check the macerator with out taking the hoses off?

hire someone?
valves dont say anything because handle marks flow

ok I am 99% sure I have the handles right. I have the handle part following the flow out the boat. Still no go! . . but when I take off the cap to the pump out hose, and fill it up with water and turn on the macerator it works. I can see bubbles come from under the boat. So that would tell me the valves are correct. It also tells me the maceraotr is working at leaset when I prime it. So what the heck is wrong. What do I replace?

Sea Ray put a ball valve in a line right near the outlet on the tank on some boats so you can break the mascerator lines loose without a major spill. Check to be sure that valve is open if you have one.

there is not a ball or anytype of valve between the holding tank and the macerator

it looks like something stuck inside holding tank blocking outlet BUT what you writing shows that valve can be broken or installed wrong way
there should be no direct flow from deck pump-out to macerator at any valve handle position
valve should allow flow from holding tank to macerator to overboard OR from holding tank to deck pump-out plate but never from deck plate to macerator

There is not a valve from the pump out hose. There is a "T" fitting on the holding tank. Qne end goes to tank one to the pump out and one the the macerator.

hmm..
in original post you wrote about "y" valve and that how most of the times system is design
if there is not "y" valve there is only two possibilities of problem:
1-something stuck inside hose from tank to "t" fitting or inside tank and blocking waste pickup
2-there is broken or missing rubber o-ring on waste cap and you sucking air through waste deck plate instead waste from holding tank (that could be a reason that you are tripping breaker - because macerator running dry)
